Pipe C empty the tank in 20minutes in the question but it empty the tank in 30minutes .....from where that extra 10min came -_-

Question:
Two pipes A and B can fill a tank in 24 minutes and 30 minutes respectively. Another pipe C can empty the tank in 20 minutes. First A and B are opened and after 6 minutes C is also opened. The tank is filled up in-
Options:
A) 25 minutes
B) 26 minutes
C) 24 minutes
D) 28 minutes
Solution:
Ans: (d)


\(\therefore\) Efficiency of pipes A, B and C are 5, 4 and 6

The part filled by A and B in 6 minutes = 6 (5 + 4) = 54  

Remaining part = 120 – 54 = 66 

The part filled by pipes A, B and C = 5 + 4 – 6 = 3

Time taken to fill reamining part = \(\cfrac{66}{3}\) = 22 minutes

\(\therefore\) Total time to fill the tank = 22 + 6 

= 28 minutes
