Question:
The H.C.F. and L.C.M. of two different numbers both greater than 11, are 11 and 165 respectively. Then the sum of the number is –
Options:
A) 88
B) 176
C) 110
D) 99
Solution:
Ans: (a)

Let the numbers be 11a and 11b, where a and b are co–prime numbers.

Now,

H.C.F. × L.C.M. = n1 ×n2

          11 × 165 = 11a ×11b

                    15 = ab

So, two co–prime factors pairs are (1, 15), (3, 5).

So, numbers are (1, 165) or (33, 55)

As given numbers are greater than 11 so required numbers are 33 and 55.

Their sum = (33+ 55) = 88
