Steps to find minimum and maximum value-
For a function of one variable, y = f(x), we find the local maxima/minima by differentiation.
Maxima/minima occur when f '(x) = 0 i.e, dy/dx = 0.
x = a is a maximum if f '(a) = 0 and f ''(a) < 0;
x=a is a minimum if f '(a)=0 and f ''(a) > 0;
There are some short trick to find minimum and maximum value for some trigonometric identity.
1) n sin theta / n cos theta = maximum value= +n, minimum value = -n
2) n sin theta cox theta = maximum value= +n/2, minimum value = -n/2
3) a tan^2 teeta +b cot^2 theeta= maximum value= infinity, minimum value =root( ab)

Best wishes
