How come 1/12+1/12 =1/8?

Question:
A can do a piece of work in 12 days. B is 50% more efficient than A. In how may days will B finish the same work ?  
Options:
A) 6 days
B) 8 days
C) 12 days
D) 24 days

Dear Student,

Explanation -
Let the working efficiency of A is = 100%
thus A can work in one day = 1/12
if working efficiency is 1% thus A can work in one day= 1/1200
The efficiency of the work if B is = 100+50= 150%
B can work in one day= 1/x (no. of days to complete work)
if working efficiency is 150% B can work = 1/1200 * (150)= 1/8 part
it means B can complete the work in 8 days.

U should read the question carefully.....50% more means u need to add in previous...and 50% of the A than u can multiply or divide it... its the diff
