Question:

DIRECTIONS: Each of the following sentences are divided into parts, which are marked (a), (b), (c) and (d). One of these parts may contain an error or may not be acceptable in standard written communication. Mark that part as your answer. If there is no error, then mark (d) as your answer.

Spot the error if any.
Options:
A) On second thoughts
B) the employee has withdrawn
C) his resignation from his job a week ago.
D) No error.
Solution:
Ans: (b)
'Has withdrawn' should be replaced with 'withdrew'.

The correct expression is 'on second thoughts'. There is no need to precede 'second' with the definite article 'the'.
