Average earning of each member of the Akash’ family is 50% less than the average earning of each member of Shahid’s family and total earning of Akash’s family is 33.33% more than that of Shahid’s family. The number of persons of Shahid’s family is what percentage of the number of persons of Akash’s family.

Solution:

Let the No. of members in Akash’s family = $x$

And the no. of member’s in Shahid’s family = $y$

Total earning of Akash’s family = 400

Total earning of Shahid’s family = 300

Average earning of Akash’s family = $\frac{400}{x}$

Average earning of Shahid’s family = $\frac{300}{y}$

According to question

$\frac{400}{x} = \frac{300}{y} \times \frac{50}{100}$

$\Rightarrow \frac{x}{y} = \frac{8}{3}$

So, the number of Shahid’s family members is % of Akash’s family members

= $\frac{3}{8} \times 100 = 37.5 %$
