since the whole sentence is in past tense, shouldn't has be replaced with had in part c.

Question:

Direction: In Question, some part of the sentences have errors and some are correct. Find out

which part of a sentence has an error and select the appropriate option. If a sentence is free

from error, select ‘No Error’.

A few paces between the last market stood a big tavern which has always frightened him.

Options:
A)

 A few paces between

B)

the last market stood a big tavern

C)

 which has always frightened him

D)

 No error

Solution:

Ans: (a)‘Between’ is a preposition used to refer to something that exists between two or more things. In the given sentence, there is just one subject that is the last market. Hence, between is incorrect here. The correct expression is ‘A few paces from the last market…’ implying the distance of the tavern from the last market.
