Why option C is incorrect?

Question:
DIRECTIONS: A sentence has been given in Direct/Indirect speech. Out of the four alternatives suggested, select the one which best expresses the same sentence in Indirect/Direct speech.
He exclaimed with joy that their team had won the tournament.
Options:
A) He said, “Our team has won the tournament.”
B) He said, “Wow! Our team won the tournament.”
C) He exclaimed, “Hurray! Our team has won the tournament!”
D) He said, “Our team won the tournament.”
Solution:
He said, “Wow! Our team won the tournament.”

i also did C, but i think it is wrong because in direct speech, they only use words like said, cried shouted, and not exclaimed, requested, ordered etc
