When the tigress will arrive without being noticed she would try to attack them, and as they have nearly 2 miles to cover for reaching the camp safely through the path that runs through the heavy jungle, there's a high chnace that when the tigeress arrived she probably injured or killed some of them . Because when they will be attacked they will try to escape by running in any direction which may not be in the direction of their main camp, also running here and there would also be very difficult because the forest is very dense to even move a foot let alone run.
Answer (b) is also correct as the path is not suitbale for walking and they probably have to run thus they would face a great difficulty to escape the attack.
Possibility of answer (c) is more because option(b) is imparting negative connotation
Because nowhere in the passage it's hinted that the people would be killed, so it's safe to not indulge in thta area.
This question is basically judging your psychometry and implying the option of "KILLING" may indicate the negative psychometry.
