there should be no change in tense because it is habitual fact....in universal truths,habitual facts and maxims there is no change in tense.

Question:
DIRECTIONS: In the following question, a sentence has been given in Direct/Indirect speech. Out of the four alternatives suggested, select the one which best express the same sentence in Indirect/Direct.

"I always wake up early," she said.

Options:
A) She said that she always woke up early.
B) She says that she always woke up early.
C) She said that she always wakes up early.
D) She said that she always wake up early.  
Solution:

It would be in past simple tense.

The correct sentence would be - She said that she always woke up early.
