Hey, its very simple ...
let A+B =x days means A works for x days and B also works for x days
A alone do the works in 8 days more than x , means work done by B in x days is done by A in 8 days
similarly work done by A in x days can be done by B in 18 days.
8A=xB
xA=18B
on dividing both => x^2= 8*18 = 144 => x=12

Let A and B complete the work in 'x' days.
then, according to the question A will complete the work in 'x plus 8' days.
sorry my plus key is not functioning so i am writing plus in place of addition.
and B will complete the work in 'x plus18 ' days

so, A's one day work is 1/x plus 8.
and B's one day work is 1/x plus 18.

now , 1/ x plus 8 'plus' 1/ x plus 18 = 1/x
then solve the equation for value of 'x'
