Question:
DIRECTIONS: In the following questions, sentence has been given in Direct/Indirect Speech. Out of the four alternatives suggested select the one which best expresses the same sentence in Indirect/Direct Speech.


I said, "Will you stop that noise?" "No", said the boy.

Options:
A) I asked the boy if he would stop that noise and he replied that he would not stop that noise.
B) I told the boy if he would stop that nose and he said no.
C) I said to the boy if he will stop that noise and he said that he would not.
D) I asked the boy whether he would stop that noise and he replied in no.
Solution:
It is an Interrogative Sentence: 

Structure of indirect speech 

  • Reporting verb is changed into ask or enquire of. 
  • If & Whether is used as a linking word and
  • ‘Will’ changes into ‘Would’
