Two statements are given, followed by two conclusions numbered I and II have been given. You have to take these given statements to be true, even if they seem to be at variance from the commonly known facts. Read all the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the given statements disregar-ding commonly known facts. 


Statements:

I.Some pens are pencils.

II.Some pencils are not papers.

Conclusions:

I.Some papers are pencils.

II.No paper is pencil.

Options:
A) Only conclusion I follows.
B) Only conclusion II follows.
C) Both the conclusions I and II follow.
D) Either conclusion I or II follows.
Solution:

Ans: (d)

I.“Some papers are pencils”, is false in the Venn diagram Ist.

II.“No paper is pencil”, is false in the Venn diagram IInd.

Hence, either conclusion I or II follows.
