From where it come 2o *10÷12??

Question:
The average age of 10 members in a family is 21 years, but due to death of one family member the average age is reduced by 2 months. The age of the member who died is:
Options:
A) 20 \(\cfrac{10}{12}\) years
B) 20 \(\cfrac{1}{3}\) years
C) 22 \(\cfrac{1}{2}\) years
D) 19 \(\cfrac{1}{3}\) years
Solution:

Sum of age of 10 members = 10 ×21 = 210

After death sum of age of 9 member = \(9×20 \cfrac{10}{12}\) = \(\cfrac{375}{2}\)

Age of member who died = \(210-\cfrac{375}{2}=22\cfrac{1}{2}\) years

Dear student,
Here one family member is died so 9 members are left and the average '21 years' reduced by 2 so it is reduced to 20 and 10/12.
