One cannot guess that after couple left the no of guests will be 25..
as the earlier presumtion says total no of guests is 540/27= 20 .. after the couple leave the no of guests should be 18...

Question:
The total age of all the guests in the party was 540 years. If a couple (guests) left the party, then the average of the remaining guests still remained unchanged, where the age of both the husband and wife (couple) was same, then the average age of this couple and the total number of guests in the party, respectively, can be:
Options:
A) 18, 27
B) 20, 27
C) 15, 38
D) Can’t be determined
Solution:

Ans: (b) Go through option,

 540/27 = 20

\(\cfrac{540-(2\times20)}{25}=\cfrac{500}{25}\)

= 20

Hence option (b) is correct.
