How many triangles are there in this figure ?

Solution:
Ans: (a)


Triangles are:  ABC,ABD,ADC,BEG,BGD,DGH,DEB,DCI,DHI,AHC,DHC,ABH,BHD,ADF,ADE,BHC,CFI and FDC

I think it should be 19 (an odd no). Since the figure is symmetrical about the middle line and the whole fig. is enclosed in a triangle only.
on counting also I got 19 triangles as an answer.
please correct my logic.

Dear Student,

There is no formula for the triangle counting in shapes.

So for the triangle question its best to count and check, but you count this in a sequence for more accuracy.

Start counting from the single parts how many triangle are formed, then joining two parts count how many triangles are formed, the same way apply continued.

From this you will find triangles in any shape very easy.
