can't we solve this question without solving quadratic equation

Question:
A man walked 12 km at a certain rate and then 6 km further at a rate of \(\cfrac{1}{2}\) km/h faster. If he had walked the whole distance at a faster rate, his time would have been 20 minutes less. How long did he really take to walk the distance of 18 km? 
Options:
A) 4.3 hour.
B) 5.33 hour.
C) 5.66 hour.
D) None of these.
