how come 10.3 becomes 10*3 no logic at all correct the question

Question:
The non zero-root of the equations 32x+ 9 = 10*3x is:
Options:
A) a+ ve fraction
B) a-ve fraction
C) a + ve integer
D) a-ve integer
Solution:
Ans: (c)

Put 3x = y

\(\therefore\) given equation becomes

y2+9 = 10y or y2 - 10y + 9 = 0

\(\therefore\ y = \cfrac{10\pm\sqrt{100-36}}{2}\)

= \( \cfrac{10\pm\sqrt{64}}{2}=\cfrac{10\pm 8}{2}=9,\ 1\)

Thus 3x = 9 = 32 or 3x = 1=30

therefore x = 2 or x = 0

Hence the non zero root is a + ve integer.
