The Ratio of the amount of work done by $(x - 4)$ labours in $(x + 4)$ days and that done by $(x + 6)$ labours in $(x - 2)$ days. Then the number of labours in second condition. (is 32:45)

Options:

Solution:

$\frac{(x - 4) (x + 4)}{(x - 2) (x + 6)} = \frac{32}{45}$

$\Rightarrow 45 x^{2} - 45 \times 16 = 32 x^{2} + 4 \times 32 x = 12 \times 32$

$13 x^{2} - 128 x - 336 = 0$

From solving this eq.

$x = 12$

No of labours in second Condition = $12 + 6 = 18$
