post "that" letter..... should be used..

Question:

Direction: A sentence has been given in Direct/Indirect speech. Out of the four alternatives suggested, select the one which best expresses the same sentence in Indirect/Direct speech.

“Shall I post this letter for you?” he asked.

He asked if he should post the letter for me. 

B)

He asked if he could post the letter for me.

No brother.
"this" when used as adjective will change into "that" only in cases related to time..
eg: this day... that day.
In other cases, this will change to "the".
eg: this book .. that book.
