I think some explanation is missing

Question:

If sinA, cosA and tan A are in GP, then cos3A + cos2A =?

Options:
A) 1
B) 2
C) 3
D) 4
Solution:

Ans.(a)

sinA, cosA  and  tanA are in G.P.

Then, cos2 A = sinA. tanA

cos2A = sin2 A/cos A------------eq(1)

cos3A = sin2 A = 1 –  cos2 A-----------eq(2)

By simplifying eq(1) and (2)

\(\therefore\) cos3 A + cos2 A = 1
