Pls make clear of it..

Question:
A cube is made into a number of small cubes by dividing each edge into five equal parts. What is the minimum number of additional such cubes required to create a bigger cube which will completely enclose the original cube?
Options:
A) 218
B) 216
C) 343
D) 148
Solution:

Ans(a)

Each edge is divided into five equal parts so the number of small cubes
∴ Numbers of small cubes  = 53 = 125.

To cover the 5\(\times\)5\(\times\)5 cube completely, it would require a 7\(\times\)7\(\times\)7 cube.  (as 1+5+1 on every side)

 Number of extra cubes required are=\(7^3\)-\(5^3\)= 343 – 125 = 218
