I am surprised at the number of people saying Wednesday is the answer (Question: 200386.0 )

Keep your formulas aside for a sec.
1st is thursday. Which means 1+7 =8th must be a thursday. Similarly, 15th, 22nd, 29th are also thursdays.

Count the next 5 days
1st May - Friday
2nd - Sat
3rd - Sun
4th - Mon
5th - Tue

I think people are making the mistake while counting the odd number of days. 34/7 gives remainder 6. But the first of those 6 days will be Thursday. Hence, 6th day will be Tuesday. (Th Fr Sat Sun Mon Tue)

If you are not satisfied, lets calculate on real dates. The actual day on 1st Feb is sunday. According to your calculation, 5th March has to be Saturday, right? But 5th March 1920 is Friday! Check it on Google..

1 February, 1920 was Thursday, then what day will be 5 March, 1920 ?
Options:
A) Wednesday
B) Thursday
C) Tuesday
D) None of these
Solution:
Ans: (c)

 Days between 1st February, 1920 to 5 March,1920 = 28 days + 5 days 

= 33 days

Odd days=33 \(\div\) 7 = 5(Remainder)

So, the day on 5th March =Thursday + 5th  = Tuesday

Dear Student,
Tuesday is correct. Write from 1feb to 5th march then count 1-1 day then you will see Tuesday will come out not Wednesday.
