How the lines are coincident (Question: 111076.0 )

Lines are coincident means the lines are top of one another but it is not.

Question:
The point of intersection of three lines 2x+3y-5 = 0, 5x-7y+2 = 0 and 9x-5y-4 = 0:
Options:
A) form a triangle
B) are on lines perpendicular to each other
C) are on line parallel to each to other
D)  are coincident
Solution:
Ans: (d)

From eqn (1) and (2) we get,

(2x + 3y) = 5

5x - 7y = -2

elimination by equating the coefficient method

5(2x + 3y = 5)

2(5x - 7y = -2)

\(\Rightarrow\) 10x + 15y = 25

10x - 14y = -4

29y = 29

y = 1

and x = 1

Now put x = 1 and y = 1 eqn (3)

LHS = RHS

∴ Points are coincident
