What are the signs of the roots of the equation x2 + 6x + 9 = 0
Options:
A) both are positive
B) both are negative
C) one negative, one positive
D) None of these
Solution:

Ans: (b) x2 + 6x + 9 = 0 ⇒ x2 –(-6)x + 9 = 0

The sum of the roots is negative and the product of the roots is positive.

∴ Both the roots are negative.
