books and pencils are exclusive. Moreover both conclusions contradict each other. please shed some light on this issue.

Question:
DIRECTIONS: In the question below, there are few statements followed by few conclusions. You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts and then decide which of the given conclusion logically follow(s) from the given statements.


Statements:

1. Some books are pens.

2. Some pens are pencils.

3. All pencils are rubber.

Conclusions:

I. Some books are pencils.

II. No book is a pencil.

Options:
A) If only conclusion I follows
B) If only conclusion II follows
C) If either conclusion I or II follows
D) If neither conclusion I nor II follows
Solution:

Ans : (c) Either conclusion I or II follows.

Some+No = Either or when There is no direct relation given between two elements in the statements. None of the given conclusions can be true independently.....Both Contradicts so either I or II appears..
