ye cat level ke questions hain 2014 mein aya hain cat ,me kyu maje le rahe ho

Question:
If the roots of ax2 + bx + c = 0 are \(\alpha\) and β and the roots of px2 + qx + r = 0 are \(\alpha\) - k and β - k, then
Options:
A) r = ak2 – bk + c
B) r = ak + bk + ck2
C) r = ak2 – bk – ck2
D) r = ak2 + bk + c
Solution:

Ans: (d) As \(\alpha\)  and β are the roots of ax2 + bx + c = 0

Now, the equation with \(\alpha\) – k and β - k as roots are f(x + k)

i.e. a(x + k)2 + b(x + k) + c = 0

ax2 + (b + 2ak)x + (ak2 + bk + c) = 0

By comparing this equation with px2 + qx + r = 0, r = ak2 + bk + c
