Question:
Total cost of 7 pens and 4 books is Rs 232 and that of 4 pens and 7 books is Rs 241. Find the cost of one book.
Options:
A) Rs 19
B) Rs 20
C) Rs 21
D) Rs 23
Solution:
Ans: (d)

7 P + 4 B=232....Eq. (i)

4 P + 7 B=241....Eq. (ii)

Multiply eq. (i) by 4 and eq. (ii)by 7 

Now Subtract eq (i) from eq (ii)

28 P +16 B=928

28 P+49 B=1687

we get,

33 B=759

B=23
