Question:
A taxi starts travel from Pritumpur at morning 8 am to Ranchi which is at a distance of 50 km from Pritumpur. There is a taxi for every 30 minutes from Pritumpur and each taxi travels at a speed of 25 kmph. Two men Anthony and Bob starts at 2 pm from Ranchi at a speed of 12.5 kmph and 10 kmph respectively. During their journey, find the number of taxi's Bob encounter more than Anthony?
Options:
A) 1
B) 4
C) 2
D) 3
Solution:

Total distance of journey = 50 km.
Anthony travels from Ranchi at a speed of 12.5 kmph.
Time required by Anthony to reach Pritumpur = \(\cfrac{50}{12.5}\) = 4 hours
Therefore the time of arrival to Pritumpur is at 6 pm.

Similarly, Bob travels from Ranchi at a speed of 10 kmph.
Time required by Bob to reach Pritumpur = \(\cfrac{50}{10}\) = 5 hours
Therefore the time of arrival to Pritumpur is at 7 p.m.

Given that there is a taxi for every 30 minutes.
And, Bob need 1 hour more than Anthony.

Within this 1 hour period Bob encounters 2 more taxi's than Anthony.
Hence, the answer is 2.
