Question:

The sum of the digits of a two digit number is 12. If the new number formed by reversing the digits is greater than the original number by 54, Find original number.

Solution:

Ans:(a) Let the unit & tens digit of num. is x and y

Number = 10 x + y

According to question,    x + y = 12  …(i)

(10 y + x) - (10x + y)  = 54

10y + x - 10x - y = 54

9y - 9x = 54

 y - x = 6      …(ii)

Solving eqn (i)    and eqn (ii), we get

x = 3, y = 9

∴ Number = 10 × 3 + 9 = 39
