From four corners of a square sheet of side 4 cm, four pieces, each in the shape of arc of a circle with radius 2 cm, are cut out. The area of the remaining is  
Options:
A) (8- \(\pi\)) cm2
B) (16- 4 \(\pi\)) cm2
C) (18-8\(\pi\)) cm2
D) (4-2\(\pi\)) cm2
Solution:
Ans: (b)


= 4\(\pi\) cm2 

So, remaining area =(16 – 4\(\pi\)) cm2

Apply, area of quarter circle = (pi r^2)/4

so, there are 4 such quarter circle = 1/4((pi r^2)/4)

so, total area of arc = 1/4((pi r^2)/4)
