let x=3
then
x^2-px+1>0
3^2-3*p+1>0
9+1-3p>0
10-3p>0
p can be 3 too
10-9=1>0

Question:

Find a quadratic equation whose sum of roots is 2 and product of roots is 1:

Options:
A)

 x2 - 2x + 1 = 0

B)

 x2 - 3x + 1 = 0

C)

 x2 - 4x + 1 = 0

D) can have any value
Solution:
Ans: (a)

ax2 + bx + c = 0

When a=1 we can work out that:

  • Sum of the roots = −b/a = -b
  • Product of the roots = c/a = c

x2 − (sum of the roots)x + (product of the roots) = 0

We will go through the option-

In option (a)

x2 - 2x + 1 = 0

-b= 2

c = 1
