If $(3 - \frac{2}{x}) = \frac{3}{x}$ , x # 0 then the value of $x^{2} + \frac{1}{x^{2}}$ is:

Options:

$2 \frac{1}{3}$

$2 \frac{2}{3}$

$2 \frac{4}{9}$

$2 \frac{5}{9}$

Solution:

$x (3 - \frac{2}{x}) = \frac{3}{x}$

$\to$ 3 x – 2 = $\frac{3}{x}$

$\to$ 3x – $\frac{3}{x}$ = 2

$\to$ 3 $(x - \frac{1}{x})$ = 2

$\to$ x – $\frac{1}{x}$ = $\frac{2}{3}$

$\to$ x 2 + $\frac{1}{x^{2}}$ = $\frac{4}{9}$ + 2 = $\frac{22}{9}$ = $2 \frac{4}{9}$
