In the ques it is said that a man works half as much as a boy so the efficiency of a man should be half of a boy

Question:

8 men can dig a pit in 20 days. If a man works half as much again as a boy, then 

4 men and 9 boys can dig a similar pit in

Options:
A) 15 days
B) 10 days 
C) 12 days
D) 16 days
Solution:
Ans: (d) Let work done by a boy = 2

So, work done by a man = 2 + 2 × \(\cfrac{1}{2}\) = 3

Let total work = 8 × 20 × 3 = 480 units

Work done by (4 men + 9 boys) 

                    = 4 × 3 + 9 × 2 

                    = 30 units

Total time required = \(\cfrac{480}{30}\) = 16 days
