X not equal y
Means either x y
How can we say it's x

Question:

DIRECTIONS: In the questions given below, some relationship has been expressed through symbols as shown below. Based on the meaning of these symbols and choose the correct answer.

ϕ means ‘less than’

Δ means ‘not greater than’

- means ‘equal to’

+ means ‘not equal to’

× means ‘not less than’

= means ‘greater than’

X \(\phi\) Y - Z implies
Options:
A) X \(\times\) Y\(-\)Z
B) X - Y \(\times\) Z
C) X + Y \(\times\) Z
D) X \(\times\) Y = Z
Solution:
Clearly, the meaning of the given symbols

X ϕ Y - Z ⇒ X < Y = Z

Using the proper notations/symbols in option (c), we get

X + Y × Z ⇒ X ≠ Y > Z ⇒ X < Y = Z

Therefore, X ϕ Y - Z  X + Y × Z.
