please explain how the hell did 12 got added to 98x and became 110x and also how -120 became +120

Question:

S is a series of 4 consecutive even numbers.  If the sum of reciprocal of first two numbers of S  1160    is , then what is the reciprocal of third highest number of S ?

11x^2- 98x-120=0
11^2 -110x+12x-120=0
11x(x-10)+12(x-10)=0
after simplify
x=10

we will be fixed correct equation..
