Question:

If x, y and z are real numbers and x + y + z = 7 and xy + yz + xz = 10, then what will be greatest value of x ?

Solution:

Ans: (d)

Put x = 5 , y =2  and z = 0

5 + 2 + 0 = 7

and 5 × 2 + 2 × 0 + 5 × 0 = 10

So,    maximum value of x = 5
