Please emphasize the two equations in detail.

Question:

      AB and CD are two chords of circle subtending 60° and 120° respectively at the same point on the circumference of the circle. Then AB : CD is – 

Options:
A)

  3:1    

B)

  2:1    

C)

     1 : 1

D)

  3:2    

Solution:

     Given that AB and CD are two chords and O is the centre of circle

  

In ∆OCD, 

OCsin30°=CDsin120°           ….. (i)

In ∆AOB,

OAsin30°=ABsin120°           ….. (ii)

OC = OA = radii of circle 

From equation (i) and  (ii) 

AB : CD = 1:1

दिया गया है कि AB और CD वृत कि दो जीवाए है ओर माना वृत का केन्द्र ‘O’ है।

  

OCD मे-

OCsin30°=CDsin120°           ….. (i)

In ∆AOB 'मे-

OAsin30°=ABsin120°           ….. (ii)

OC = OA= वृत कि त्रिज्या

समीकरण (i)  (ii) से

AB : CD = 1:1
