Please emphasize the two equations in detail.

Question:

AB and CD are two chords of circle subtending 60° and 120° respectively at the same point on the circumference of the circle. Then AB : CD is –

Options:

$\sqrt{3} : 1$

$\sqrt{2} : 1$

1 : 1

$\sqrt{3} : \sqrt{2}$

Solution:

Given that AB and CD are two chords and O is the centre of circle

In ∆OCD,

$\frac{O C}{s i n 30 °} = \frac{C D}{s i n 120 °}$ ….. (i)

In ∆AOB,

$\frac{O A}{s i n 30 °} = \frac{A B}{s i n 120 °}$ ….. (ii)

OC = OA = radii of circle

From equation (i) and (ii)

AB : CD = 1:1

Hindi Explanation.-

दिया गया है कि AB और CD वृत कि दो जीवाए है ओर माना वृत का केन्द्र ‘O’ है।

∆OCD मे-

$\frac{O C}{s i n 30 °} = \frac{C D}{s i n 120 °}$ ….. (i)

In ∆AOB 'मे-

$\frac{O A}{s i n 30 °} = \frac{A B}{s i n 120 °}$ ….. (ii)

OC = OA= वृत कि त्रिज्या

समीकरण (i) व (ii) से-

AB : CD = 1:1
