Dear student
Given data: length=3.3m,width=2.6m, height=1.1m Volume of cistern=8000 litres, thickness of walls is 5 centimetres
To Find- The thickness of the bottom of the tank=?
We know that 1 litre=1000 cubic centimetres.
Hence the length of cistern =3.3m=330cm
the width of cistern=2.6m=260cm
the height of cistern=1.1m=110cm
Now the walls of the cistern are 5cm thick, hence the inner length of the cistern is 330-10=320cm
and inner width of the cistern=260-10=250cm
Now the total volume of the cistern is 8000litres = 8000000 cubic centi-metres
8000000=320*250* x
Let x be the internal height of the tank
8000000=80000*x
x=8000000/80000
Hence x=100 centimetres
Thus the thickness of the bottom is 110-100cm=10cm
The thickness of the bottom is 10 centimetres.
10cm=1 dm
