shouldn't it be

108x + 110y =16300

Question:
The population of a town is 15,000. If the number of males increases by 8% and that of the females by 10%, then the population becomes 16,300. Find the number of females in town.
Options:
A) 4000
B) 6000
C) 3000
D) 5000

No, its wrong,

You may solve in this way also:

If the number of females be x, then number of males = 15000 – x
so x * 10/100 + (15000 –x) * 8/100 = 16300 – 15000
or 10x + 120000 – 8x= 1300 * 100
=> 2x = 130000 – 120000 = 10000
=>x = 5000
