In the solution it is assumed that fixed cost for each person is equal to the variable cost for each person. Which is not given. Please,explain.

Per unit charge 5rs/unit

The expenses of an hostel are partly Constant and partly vary as the number of boys. The expenses were Rs.20,000 for 300 boys and Rs.16,800 for 200 boys. What will the expenses be when there are 650 boys?
Options:
A) Rs.40,000
B) Rs.45,560
C) Rs.47,840
D) Rs.50,000
Solution:
Ans: (c) Total number of boys = 300 + 200 = 500

Total expenses = 20,000 + 16,800 = 36,800

Now expenses of 650 boys

= \(\cfrac{36800}{500}\) × 650

= Rs. 47,840.
