please explain. i got confused with 61 & 161. how it comes

Question:

Rs.6100/- was partly invested in scheme A at 10% p.a. compound interested annually for 2 years and partly in scheme B at 10% p.a. simply interest for 4 years. Both the scheme pay equal interests. How much was invested in scheme A?

Options:
A)

Rs.3750

B)

Rs.4500

C)

Rs.4000

D)

Rs.3250

Solution:

Ans: (c)

Let Rs. x invested in scheme A.

\(x\left ( \cfrac {110}{100} \right )^2 - x \) = \(\cfrac{(6100-x)\times10\times4}{100}\)

\(x \left ( \cfrac {121}{100}-1 \right )\) = \(\cfrac{(6100-x)\times4}{10}\)

\(x \cfrac{21}{100}\) = \(\cfrac{(6100-x)\times4}{10}\)

21x = 244000 - 40x

x = \(\cfrac{244000}{61}\)

x = 4000
