why cant we use in case of????

Question:
DIRECTIONS: A sentence/ a part of the sentence is underlined. Below are given alternatives to the underlined part at (A), (B), (C) which may improve the sentence. Choose the correct alternative. In case no improvement is needed your answer is (D). Mark your answer in the Answer Sheet.
In case if it rains, I shall not visit you.
Options:
A) If so
B) In case of
C) If
D) No improvement
Solution:
Ans: (c) 'If' should replace the underlined part, as none of the other options will make a grammtically correct sentence. 'In case of' and 'If' should not be used together, as both are almost same in their meanings.
