can you explain the logic behind the formula

Question:
In the given figure, ED = 6 cm, CE = 3 cm and AE = 4.5 cm, then find the value of EB.


Options:
A) 2.5 cm
B) 3.5 cm
C) 4 cm
D) 5 cm
Solution:
Ans: (c) 

ATQ,

AE × EB = CE × ED

4.5 × EB = 3 × 6

EB = 4 cm
