when we say definite time we should use past indefinite .

I told him I waited for him for an hour the previous day. 
Options:
A) had waited
B) had been waiting 
C) was waiting 
D) No improvement 
Solution:
Ans: (a) ‘had waited’ should replace the underlined part, as the sentence is in indirect form and the past tense is change into past participle tense form.
