Question:

If the radius of the circumference of a circle is 5 cm and the altitude drawn to the hypotenuse is 4 cm, then the area of right angled triangle is equal to:

Options:
A) 25 cm2
B) 18 cm2
C) 19 cm2
D) 20 cm2
Solution:
Ans: (d)

AC = 2 (OA) = 2 x 5 = 10 cm
\(\therefore\) Area of \(\triangle\)ABC = \(\cfrac{1}{2}\) × (base x height)
= \(\cfrac{1}{2}\) AC × BD
= \(\cfrac{1}{2}\)(10 × 4) cm2
= 20 cm2
