Question:

Water flows into a tank which is 200 m long and 150 m wide through a pipe of cross section 0.3 m × 0.2 m at 30 km/hour, then the time (in hours) for the water level in the tank to reach 9 m is-

Options:
A)

160 hours

B)

200 hours

C)

150 hours

D)

100 hours

Solution:

Ans: (c) 

  

OR

Volume of water collected in the tank in 1 hour

⇒ (0.3 × 0.2 × 30km × 1000 mts) = 1800 m cubic

If after t hours, the water is at height of 9 m,

1800t=200×150×9

⇒ t = 150 Hours.
