Need to see number of pairs of words have as many letter as in English alphabet:
PRESENCE
In forward direction:
in the given word: P R E S ____(1)
in the english alphabet: P Q R S ____(2)
Hence, in both the cases, there are two letters, so, its i.e. PS one of the required pairs.
Except PS, no such pairs we see in the forward direction.
In reverse direction:
in the given word: ENC ____(1)
in the english alphabet: EDC ____(2)
Hence, in both the cases, there is one letter, so, its i.e. EC one of the required pairs.
in the given word: RESEN ____(1)
in the english alphabet: RQPON ____(2)
Hence, in both the cases, there are three letter, so, its i.e. RN one of the required pairs.
Except EC and RN, no such pairs we see in the reverse direction.
So, required number of pair= 3 = PS, EC, RN
