Question:

The number of lead shots each 0.3 cm in radius can be made from a cuboid of dimension 18 cm \(\times\) 11 cm \(\times\) 12 cm will be:

Options:
A) 10500
B) 13500
C) 17000
D) 21000
Solution:

Number of lead shots =  Volume of  cuboid   \(\div\)  Volume  of 1 lead

Volume of 1 lead =  Volume of sphere = \(\cfrac{4}{3}\pi r^3 = \cfrac{4}{3}\pi (\cfrac{3}{10})^3\)

Therefore  Number of lead shots = { 18*11*12} \(\div\)  \(\cfrac{4}{3}\pi (\cfrac{3}{10})^3\)

 = 21000

Dear Student,
Number of lead shots = Volume of cuboid / Volume of 1 lead
Volume of 1 lead = Volume of sphere = 4/3 * 22/7 * ( 3/10)^3 cm^3
Therefore Number of lead shots = { 18*11*12} / {4/3 * 22/7 * ( 3/10)^3}
= 21000

Hope you understood
