why "d" is incorrect

Question:

DIRECTIONS: In the following questions, a sentence has been given in direct/indirect speech. Out of the four alternatives suggested, select the one that best expresses the same sentence in indirect/direct speech.

I said, “Will you stop that noise?” “No” said the boy.

Options:
A)

I asked the boy if he would stop that noise and he replied that he would not (stop that noise).

B)

I told the boy if he would stop that noise and he said no.

C)

I said to the boy if he will stop that noise and he said that he would not.

D)

I asked the boy whether he would stop this noise and the replied in negative.
